Master AutoCAD 2020: 2D Drafting for Architecture & Civil Engineering

What you will learn:

  • Fundamental AutoCAD 2020 techniques
  • Advanced AutoCAD commands and workflows
  • Architectural drawing methodologies for plans, sections, elevations
  • Civil engineering shop drawing creation (columns, beams, slabs, foundations)

Description

Elevate your CAD skills with our expert-led AutoCAD 2020 course! This comprehensive program takes you from the fundamentals of 2D drafting to creating professional architectural and civil engineering drawings. Begin with a solid foundation in essential AutoCAD commands, including lines, circles, arcs, polylines, and more. You'll then master advanced techniques like offsetting, mirroring, trimming, and creating blocks, all while learning efficient workflows to save you time and improve accuracy.

This course isn't just theory; it's hands-on practice. You'll work through detailed, real-world projects, starting with mastering fundamental tools. You’ll then step-by-step create a complete architectural plan set (floor plans, sections, elevations), learning efficient strategies for drawing walls, doors, windows and other architectural elements. Finally, you'll tackle a complex structural project, developing shop drawings for columns, beams, slabs, and foundations. By the end, you'll be confident in your ability to tackle any 2D drafting challenge.

What sets us apart: This course combines in-depth command instruction with real-world applications, ensuring you gain practical skills directly transferable to your professional work. No prior AutoCAD experience is necessary. Start your AutoCAD mastery journey today!

Curriculum

Introduction

This introductory section sets the stage for your AutoCAD journey. 'Introduction 1' provides an overview of the course and what you can expect to learn. 'Introduction 2' dives into the interface, navigation, and essential setup procedures to ensure you're comfortable working within the software.

Part 1: Mastering AutoCAD 2020 Commands

This comprehensive section focuses on building a robust foundation in AutoCAD 2020. Starting with the very basics, you will learn to draw lines, polylines, points, rectangles, circles, polygons, and arcs, mastering control of dimensions and coordinates. You’ll then progress to more advanced tools, such as hatch creation, chamfering, filling, copying, moving, offsetting, mirroring, rotating, extending, trimming, creating arrays, and working with donuts and multi-lines. The section further covers object properties, scaling, stretching, creating and manipulating blocks, dynamic blocks, text formatting, layer management, dimensions creation, editing and styling, the use of align and xline commands, and the insertion of images. The section concludes with an extended ‘example’ section putting all previous learning into practice before covering the print functionality.

Part 2: Architectural Project from A to Z

Put your newly acquired skills to the test by creating a complete architectural project. You'll start by defining layers and axes, then learn efficient methods for drawing walls, doors, and windows. This section guides you through the entire process of developing a set of plans, sections, and elevations, focusing on best practices for speed and accuracy. Each lecture in this section is dedicated to a specific aspect of architectural drawing, ensuring step-by-step clarity. The ‘review’ lecture allows you to consolidate all you have learned in this section.

Part 3: Structural Shop Drawings for Civil Engineers

This section delves into the creation of structural shop drawings, focusing on efficient techniques for creating detailed civil engineering drawings. The introductory lecture prepares you for this stage. You’ll then learn how to distribute columns, add axes, generate elevation drawings and detailed views of these columns. This section also extensively covers the drawing of slabs (including flat, solid, ribbed, and waffle slabs), beam layouts, details, and sections, and, finally, covers foundations.
